The April 16 showers may bring automatic tax extensions

April showers bring May flowers. And to those who live or work in the Northeast, the April 16 super-showers may also bring automatic tax extensions.

Press releases posted at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and IRS Websites announce: "Tax Deadline Extended for New Yorkers Affected by Nor'easter" and "IRS Gives April 16 Storm Victims Additional 48 Hours to File Income Tax Returns," respectively. This year's extended deadline for storm-soaked citizens is midnight April 19. #####
